Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme
The grading scheme for Visitor Attractions is designed to provide confidence that the attraction has been inspected and found to be of a good enough quality to warrant the designation of quality. The scheme does not aim to ensure that any attraction will provide the visitor with an enjoyable experience as that is too subjective. It does however ensure that the site has been inspected and that it has been judged against the expected industry standards of that type of attraction.
The assessment is conducted annually by trained inspectors from Visitbritain who look at a variety of facilities and quality factors. There is no grading scheme. The sign displays the Tourism logo and the words “Visitor Attraction”.
Green Tourism Business Scheme
This scheme is concerned with the environmental factors of any attraction or business. It covers such factors as energy and water usage, waste disposal, bio diversity., Marketing, cultural heritage, social involvement, innovation and others.
The scheme is managed and awarded by Visitbritain. Businesses that meet the stringent criteria are award a Gold, Silver or Bronze award to reflect the degree to with these factors have been met.
